We'd been asked this week if our class would be interested in doing this. We "passed the basket" and received more than enough to cover this. Let Bonnie know if you would be able to help her with this. She didn't ask for help but I'm sure it would be appreciated. We don't know specifics yet on date, time, location etc. THANK YOU BONNIE!!

Ann Havicus is working hard on all the preparation for June 11th when we feed the approximately 250 people in the Shoal Creek Valley area. THANK YOU ANN and committee!!!! We've made donations to several people of money and also donated much in the way of supplies, clothes, etc.to tornado victims. THANKS TO THE BAILEYS who headed up the donation effort. THANKS to all those who helped and are still helping. Many are needed on June 11th at the Community Center in the Shoal Creek Valley. Let Ann know if you can help if you haven't already talked with her.

If you were not in the worship service this morning, you missed a wonderful blessing with the singing of 3 young ladies who were formerly with the singers we've heard from the University of Mobile. They go by the name STORY and truly blessed our hearts!

If you trust God in the dark, he'll change your midnight into music.

GOD BLESS AMERICA ... LAND OF THE FREE ...BUT NOT WITHOUT COST ... HOME OF THE BRAVE!

Hot Meal for some tornado victims...

Ann Havicus has volunteered to be in charge of our project to prepare a hot meal for some of the tornado victims. She has a team of ladies who've also agreed to help her. Be watching and listening for information on when this will be and what each of us can do to help. Many of us will need to be involved with a project of this size. This will be a blessing to each of us as well as those we minister to.

Walk with God ...

Scriptures are: Ezra 7:la, 6-10, 25-28 and 9:4-6 and 10:10-12.

We all are called to be leaders in Christ's work. All of us have the responsibility to lead others to Christ by our example. In our study today Ezra's integrity led him to a position of leadership that was based on his decision to do 3 things. He determined in his heart to study God's law, obey it's commands and teach it to others. We can develop that same character by studying the scripture, obeying the commands of Jesus and leading others to Him by our lifestyle.

Taking the Lead

Jimmy Summers led us in our study from Joshua 1 about overcoming our fears when God gives us the opportunity to lead. We learned that God will ALWAYS be there with us every step of the way when he calls us to spiritual leadership.

Before the lesson, several in the class reported on ways we served this week financially, spiritually, and by volunteering. Bill L said Sherry, mother of 13 who lost her husband, told him she was thankful for the body of Christ who was so evident this week. Ann H had a thank you note from the person who delivered clothes provided for 3 sisters who lost their parents. Jane M read a thank you note from a church in Pratt City that was provided supplies and clothes.

"Small things done with great love can change the world."

Approximately 28 class members gathered in the church parking lot on Monday night, May 2nd, with donations for the Pleasant Grove area. Both the Baileys and Bonners are long time residents of that area. Jerry and Glynda spearheaded this effort with connections through the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. We filled Jerry's truck, Dianne's car and Butch's huge pick-up! A lady who saw us there stopped and gave us things including a case of large bottles of Gatorade. A car stopped and a little girl gave Glynda a plastic Easter egg with her money she wanted to donate. This devastation has touched so many. We thank those of you who came and those who sent donations. We held hands and Jerry voiced a prayer for those affected by the tornadoes and ones who do what they can to assist them. "Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2. Our class verse in motion on that asphalt as we gathered to share, Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Sunday - May 1st, 2011

I'm posting this with notes from the SS prayer list. Carolyn nor I were in SS.

We thank Jimmy Summers for teaching. He will also be teaching this coming Sunday. Pray for him especially because it is Mother's Day and his mother passed away and was just buried this past Saturday. I know he will be proud to be teaching that day and know she is watching down on him from her new home in Heaven. If you remember last year Don taught on Mother's Day with that afternoon being the visitation for his mother who had passed away on the Thursday night before. Both these are men of God who serve Him and honored their mothers during their lives and stood in service to HIM even in their time of sadness.

Prayer List:
Summers and Dorr families in the death of Mrs. Mary Summers, Jimmy's mother and Bobby's aunt.
Victims of the storms and tornadoes on April 27th. Randy and Ann H lost friends, the Baileys and Bonners and Hendersons and Jerry and Joy Mitchell did as well. Some names are Sanders, Lee, Traweek. Don's co-worker one of many who lost homes.
Responders to help in the tornado aftermath.
J&J Mitchell also had friend pass away - M. Porter.
Gerald will begin a new treatment.
Tim is traveling as well as Jane and others.
Rocky's dad.
Mrs. Leopard - friend of Bonhams
Beasley grandson should be coming this week, keep Mary and Mark in your prayers. We also have a few others due this month to class member families. Pray for them also.
Caden M - grandson of Butch and Jane
Candace Carr V was to have had her baby boy last week but we haven't heard since the email from Joy that she was flying out to be there in time for the C-section.
Unspoken requests.

Praises:
Sunday was Earl's birthday.
Those safe in the storm.
Carol R's aunt
Gerald had a good report at MDA. Was only there a few days instead of anticipated 3 weeks. To have new kind of treatment.

The class took up a love gift to help some affected by the tornadoes and will collect again on Sunday, May 8th. Please come prepared if you wish to do so and weren't in SS on the 1st. Money was given to Ann H for her friends who were killed leaving 3 daughters in the hospital. Don was also given a donation for a co-worker who lost his home. Talked about helping Randy and Marsha's friends find a home. Father killed leaving wife and 13 children. We will continue to help in any way we can where we see a need.

There were about 28 of us who met in the parking lot at the church on Monday night with donations for Pleasant Grove. Jerry and Glynda spearheaded this and may have help taking it out from the Bonners and possibly others. Thank you to all who came and those who donated but couldn't come to see Jerry's truck full, Dianne B's car full of clothing and purses etc and the huge pick-up that Butch M came in as well loaded with as much as it could hold. A lady we didn't know stopped to give us items also including a case of large bottles of Gatorade and a little girl was brought by and handed Glynda B a plastic Easter egg full of money that she wanted to donate. Tears of joy were shared and a prayer of thankfulness for God's mercy and love to both the giver and recipient and prayer for strength in the days to come was voiced by Jerry as we all joined hands. We truly acted upon our class verse "Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

May 9th is the next Birthday Night at Munoz at 6:30, goodies by Glynda B.

May 18th is the Ladies Luncheon at Thai Emerald on 280 near 119.

One advantage of traveling the straight and narrow path is that few people are trying to pass you!
