Sunday - May 1st, 2011

I'm posting this with notes from the SS prayer list. Carolyn nor I were in SS.

We thank Jimmy Summers for teaching. He will also be teaching this coming Sunday. Pray for him especially because it is Mother's Day and his mother passed away and was just buried this past Saturday. I know he will be proud to be teaching that day and know she is watching down on him from her new home in Heaven. If you remember last year Don taught on Mother's Day with that afternoon being the visitation for his mother who had passed away on the Thursday night before. Both these are men of God who serve Him and honored their mothers during their lives and stood in service to HIM even in their time of sadness.

Prayer List:
Summers and Dorr families in the death of Mrs. Mary Summers, Jimmy's mother and Bobby's aunt.
Victims of the storms and tornadoes on April 27th. Randy and Ann H lost friends, the Baileys and Bonners and Hendersons and Jerry and Joy Mitchell did as well. Some names are Sanders, Lee, Traweek. Don's co-worker one of many who lost homes.
Responders to help in the tornado aftermath.
J&J Mitchell also had friend pass away - M. Porter.
Gerald will begin a new treatment.
Tim is traveling as well as Jane and others.
Rocky's dad.
Mrs. Leopard - friend of Bonhams
Beasley grandson should be coming this week, keep Mary and Mark in your prayers. We also have a few others due this month to class member families. Pray for them also.
Caden M - grandson of Butch and Jane
Candace Carr V was to have had her baby boy last week but we haven't heard since the email from Joy that she was flying out to be there in time for the C-section.
Unspoken requests.

Praises:
Sunday was Earl's birthday.
Those safe in the storm.
Carol R's aunt
Gerald had a good report at MDA. Was only there a few days instead of anticipated 3 weeks. To have new kind of treatment.

The class took up a love gift to help some affected by the tornadoes and will collect again on Sunday, May 8th. Please come prepared if you wish to do so and weren't in SS on the 1st. Money was given to Ann H for her friends who were killed leaving 3 daughters in the hospital. Don was also given a donation for a co-worker who lost his home. Talked about helping Randy and Marsha's friends find a home. Father killed leaving wife and 13 children. We will continue to help in any way we can where we see a need.

There were about 28 of us who met in the parking lot at the church on Monday night with donations for Pleasant Grove. Jerry and Glynda spearheaded this and may have help taking it out from the Bonners and possibly others. Thank you to all who came and those who donated but couldn't come to see Jerry's truck full, Dianne B's car full of clothing and purses etc and the huge pick-up that Butch M came in as well loaded with as much as it could hold. A lady we didn't know stopped to give us items also including a case of large bottles of Gatorade and a little girl was brought by and handed Glynda B a plastic Easter egg full of money that she wanted to donate. Tears of joy were shared and a prayer of thankfulness for God's mercy and love to both the giver and recipient and prayer for strength in the days to come was voiced by Jerry as we all joined hands. We truly acted upon our class verse "Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

May 9th is the next Birthday Night at Munoz at 6:30, goodies by Glynda B.

May 18th is the Ladies Luncheon at Thai Emerald on 280 near 119.

One advantage of traveling the straight and narrow path is that few people are trying to pass you!
